I have over 27 years’ experience in the public health and community service sectors, in strategic planning, project and program management, research and evaluation, consulting, tertiary education and workforce development.
I am an experienced consultant, having worked on various health and community consulting projects across 27 years as an independent consultant, through employment roles in the university sector and through my previous role as Director (Research & Evaluation) with Health Outcomes International. I have completed consultancy assignments in Australia and Switzerland, for state and national governments, the private sector and NGOs. I am currently Associate Professor (academic status) at the Southgate Institute for Health, Society and Equity, Flinders University.
I am experienced at governance and organisational reviews, strategic and operational policy reviews, public health research and evaluation, health and community services program and project evaluations, program reviews, systematic reviews of evidence, literature reviews, qualitative research (focus groups, interviews and document analysis), teaching and curriculum development, workforce development and training resources, strategic and business planning and needs assessments.
My consultancy worked is supported by my skills, knowledge, and education including a PhD (Public Health), BA (Hons) Sociology (with Sociology and Psychology double major) and Graduate Certificate in Health Service Management. My experience includes being in senior roles in academia, government and the private sector across many years.
I have undertaken extensive research and evaluation consulting work in the fields of: mental health and suicide prevention, disability, carers, health governance reviews, multi-stakeholder platforms and non-communicable diseases.
Clients have included State and Commonwealth government departments, General Practice organisations, NGOs and universities. I have delivered on significant government and community projects, including the following as Project Director/Project Manager:
