About the event
This event is based on the life of Captain Harry Butler, South Australia's Pioneer Aviator. It will discuss his early years in the tiny faming community of Minlaton, the years he spent as Chief Fighting Instructor in the Royal Flying Corps, and his return to Adelaide where he did the first crossing over a major body of water in the southern hemisphere. He established the first aviation business and passenger flights in South Australia, and Adelaide's first airport. He entertained many thousands with his aerial displays over Adelaide, to raise money for Peace Loan efforts.
